How can h. pylori stay in the body from childhood until the age of 56 then cause a stomach ulcer? is all the 55 years the period of incubation?

How do you know you have carried H. Pylori since childhood? Regardless of when you acquire this bacteria, it can cause PUD (peptic ulcer disease) at any time. There are some undefined contributors such as medication(s), foods, stress ... which can trigger the ulcer.

Had upper GI scope. Finding non bleeding duodenum ulcer. Stomach was tested for h pylori - negative. Duodenum wasnt tested. Can HP only infect duodenum? Should duodenum also be tested for HP? I dont take meds that cause ulcers - have severe stress?
