A member asked:

Psychiatrists on healthtap saying that anxiety can cause stomach ulcers whereas gastroentrologists on healthtap are saying " no , h.pylori is largely responsible and stress is not, stress is a myth" whom to believe now? also debatable among few pcp's

A doctor has provided 1 answer

H. pylori infection: Both of those statements are correct, but the vast majority of stomach (and the nearby portions of the small intestine) ulcers are related to H. pylori infection. Many things are possible in life. When you ask if something can happen, the answer is generally YES, even if extremely rarely. That's why many things CAN cause ulcers even if they almost never do.
