A member asked:

Doctor thinks i have stomach ulcers. i don't smoke, drink, or take nsaids. doc made no mention of h. pylori. should i suggest blood and breath tests? if it's not h. pylori, what else could cause ulcers or is it another issue? is excess acid possible?

The causes of peptic ulcer (either in the upper small intestine or the stomach) are unknown except Helicobacter pylori. You definitely should raise that possibility with your doctor; if H pylori is the cause, antibiotics are the main treatment. Without HP, acid control is the main plan. Correct that NSAIDs can be responsible, but in other patients there is no known cause.
