If you think the piercing is infected, the first step to treating the infection is to remove the piercing. Then, you should have a doctor examine the site to determine if antibiotics by mouth will be necessary. Keeping the site clean and putting antibiotic ointment on it 1-2 times daily until it heals will be helpful. Best of luck to you!

Prioritize first. If treating a skin condition, such as acne, piercing is to be removed as it is not helping, specifically if causing local symptoms. Seeing your doc or a dermatologist may help in better understanding skin conditions and the order they have to be addressed in.
