I need help trying to figure out if my belly button piercing is infected or not. ive had it for about 6 months but i have a little bump or something around it & the bottom part started bleeding while i was in the shower?

If it was infected, it would be red, swollen and perhaps have pus coming out of it. If it is red and/or swollen, you should remove the piercing and put antibiotic ointment on it twice daily. The piercing will heal but you will need to get pierced again since it will likely close while the infection is healing. If you are not sure, see your doctor. Good luck!

I agree with Dr Ferranti. Additionally, this sounds like a type of scar called a keloid that may have gotten irritated by rubbing in the shower or scraped prior to that. Apply some bacitracin and watch for redness, pus, swelling and if those occur or the bleeding continues, please see your doctor.
