A general dentist should be able to follow and make proper recommendations in case the expertise of a periodontist will be needed. Your dental history will be important as well and having records transferred timely may make a difference.

You have controlled bacterial disease. Good for you in bringing it under control. Obviously best choice would be to see a Periodontist. But exquisite care by a General Dentist and/or Hygienist, considering your effective daily oral hygiene program, may be more than adequate. Talk to you current Periodontist for appropriate guidance.
