A member asked:

Good afternoon doctors. when should you and when should you not get a covid test if you do not have symptoms but if you have been with other people from other households?

If any of the contacts had symptoms or if you are living with a child under 5yrs of age or a person who is immune compromised or at high risk you should get it done

The average incubation period is 5 days (since the exposure to the disease onset) but you can transmit the disease 2 days before the symptom onset and 5-7 days after; however, an exposed but asymptomatic person is less likely a carrier, i.e. a person who transmits the disease. The antigen test has high false negative rate, up to 40% depending on the manufacture so if it was me I would not do it.
