A member asked:

Good morning doctors. a close contact tested positive for covid yesterday. when should i get tested? if i test positive, how do i quarantine? if i test negative, am i in the clear, or is it better to do a follow up retest? when can i contactmy friend?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Testing 5 days after presumed exposure or at the start of symptoms will usually reflect true acquisition of the infection. The newer data on Omicron suggests transmissability for 2 days before & 3 days after the onset of symptoms. Some still prefer isolation for 10 days.
