A member asked:

Good afternoon doctors. i had to have a covid test before a colonoscopy...thank god it was negative. i'm in new york..cases are going up (as in many places). if god willing i do not have symptoms, should i repeat the covid test? if so, when please?

Repeat just before : The test only answers your current infectious status. You can get infected after you took the Covid test and need to retest as close to your colonoscopy as possible.

COVID 19 testing: Glad that your pre-procedure COVID 19 test was negative. There really isn't a requirement to get further testing at this point. However, if you have a COVID 19 contact or are symptomatic then testing may be indicated.
