This means wear and : Tear changes of the disc with aging but can be associated with a family history, spine injury, obesity, smoking and being deconditioned. Sometimes, this can lead to back pain similar to an arthritic condition. Over time, it can lead to a narrowing of the spinal canal &/or nerve root exit holes (foramen) leading to spinal stenosis which can cause nerve compression leading to symptoms or signs.
