A member asked:

My ferritin level is 3,320 as of now. it was 2,200 a few months ago. i was first told that i had hemochromotosis and underwent the taking of my blood for about 6 weeks, until i became weak . i've had 2 doctors tell me that i don't have chemo?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, an elevated serum ferritin is a common marker of inflammation. It would be prudent to discuss all of your health issues with a primary care provider. Wish you good health!
