Why is my bilirubin constantly high for a year? my direct bilirubin has been constantly 0.4 mg/dl but total bilirubin is 2.2. it was 1.9 last month and now it is 2.2. ast/alt normal.no alcohol or drug use for a year.parents total bili is 0.8?

You may want to discuss this with your regular doc. There are 2 relatively uncommon autosomal recessive disorders of bilirubin transport. The Rotor and Gilbert Syndromes occur when you inherit one recessive gene from both unaffected parents. It is more often a curiosity than a threat, but this is something your provider should know.
