A member asked:

What can cause elevated direct bilirubin? my alt has been around 45-50 for the last year, direct bili 0.4, and indirect bili 1.8.ast normal at 22.i possibly have celiac bc of antibodies but negative biospies.liver ultrasounds and biospy were normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, given a normal liver biopsy, this could be your normal. If you do not have any symptoms, you should watch and wait, if you lose weight see a doctor.. Wish you good health!
