Is the second dose of moderna safe? there has been reported deaths?

I consider it so and had no side effects at all when I received it. The company does warn folks not to get it for at least 90 days if you had covid in the past. The one death I am aware of was someone who got the 1st dose a few weeks after having the disease.

Some severe vaccine reactions have been reported subsequent to use of both Pfizer and Moderna second doses. Guillain-Barre has been noted but unlikely related. Severe thrombocyopenia has been seen, and this with Pfizer version. Miscarriages on occasion. No clearcut consistent relationships. Appears all the vaccines are acceptably safe, and certainly effective, even with variants.
