When taking Salagen by mouth, there can be a range of maximum doses, depending on the reason (health condition) the person is taking it for. For a condition like Sjögren syndrome, the maximum recommended dose in a single day is 20 mg (a person could take 5 mg four times a day). For something like xerostomia (dry mouth), a person might take between 15 and 30 mg a day.
