Chest wall injury. Ice cubes in a Ziploc bag placed directly on the skin of your chest for a 20 minute period, repeat every 1-2 hours and alternating with moist heat for the same time. In addition you can use an over-the-counter ointment like Voltaren or capsaicin to help reduce the inflammation and pain. These injuries usually take approximately 6 weeks to heal.
