I've had pain under right breat/top of rib cage for 1 month. pcp ordered xr's and ct and given pain meds. if i pulled a muscle how long could it last?

Rib Pain: Different considerations: pulled muscle, usually lasts days or several weeks; rib fracture, bad pain 2-3 months, pain with twisting 6-9 months before gone (speaking from personal experience here); thoracic disc herniation, one sided pain, shooting, worse with bend/twist, usually better 6-18 weeks. Always assume rib/chest pain on left is heart until proven otherwise. May need nerve root injection.
