Anti-inflammatory: A pulled muscle is certainly a possibility, especially at your age, and would be more tender between the ribs. A bruised rib would be more tender directly on the involved rib. Try an oral anti-inflammatory (ibuprofen - aka Motrin or advil, or naproxyn - aleve) for a week or two, and see a physician if symptoms persist.
