How long can a silicon catheter stay in a woman before change? if it leak...is there something wrong? if it stays for 8 months...and block that nothing comes out and when taken out .....its full of etter and totally blocked is it because the catheter?

I believe that silicone urethral cathers should be replaced no later than every 3 months and sooner if catheter gets blocked. Many urologists will advise changing catheters more frequently. 8 months is certainly too long & am surprised it did.nt lock a lot sooner. We exchange long term indwelling catheters on monthly basis.
