A member asked:

I'm very claustrophobic and wondering if a open mri (0.3t) is sufficient for trying to diagnose cause of long-lasting pain(years) after a rib (stress)fracture? or is a normal mri of 1.5t strength and above needed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, the resolution of an open MRI provides slightly less accurate images, but unless you are sedated, you will not tolerate standard closed MRI. Start with the "open" and see if that suffices.
