GErd: OMperazole was not intended to be used for long periods of time, but in some cases it is needed. The question is why do you have gerd. Do you smoker, have diabetes, sleep apnea, do you have a large fat-covered belly? Are you eating then laying down with a full stomach? Omeprazole use for a long period of time often causes rebound acidity when stopped, Do you need omperaozle? See a doctor

Your doc : Would be best to remain involved and most refills are given per phone request. Like any other disease, GERD needs proper follow up and focusing on getting the medicine will not serve you best in the long run. Lifestyle changes are critical as long term use of PPI’s such as omeprazole are known to be causing significant side effects and efforts should be made to discontinue them.
