Yes: Heartburn is referred to by different names including acid indigestion or heartburn. There are other symptoms of the condition know as gerd which can also include coughing, abdominal pain or a fullness in the neck.

Fundoplication: There are about a half-dozen different operations to treat gerd, all of which create a new valve around the esophagus utilizing the upper stomach.. The most popular technique is called a nissen fundoplication which involves a 360 degree wrap around the esophagus; this is usually performed via a laparoscopic approach. Some people are also candidates for nonsurgical endoscopic approaches.
