Habit: May have started with teething, but if a child is waking up routinely this way, usually a habit which should be broken but not easy.Start by letting him cry for 5 minutes, then go in without turning on lights, don’t take him out of cot and just rub his back.Gradually increase the cry time and move away from cot each night. If consistent, can break this habit in a week.

He's training you!: It is hard to resist a crying baby, we are programmed to respond, but having established that he might be teething, train yourself to wait and let him see that crying is not always going to achieve the result of being lifted out of the cot and comforted.
