A member asked:

68 year old diabetic female fractured ankles 4 years ago. had surgery on ankles. until today she does not feel sensation in the surgery site. what is wrong? is this a serious problem? her foot is deformed and stiff after surgery.walks with limp now?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Conjectures: She may have injured peripheral nerves in ankles and/or foot at time of injuries. She may well have a diabetic peripheral neuropathy. She may have developed a Charcot foot secondary to all of this. A neurologist could confirm these thoughts.
