36 m. i have a non cancerous nodule on my thyroid. it still pains me even though it's benign. my question is how do i make the doctor/surgeon take me seriously and remove the thing?

Second Opinion: Surgeon should be willing to remove painful lump which continues to cause pain. Hence you should consider consulting another sugeon/otolaryngologist. Presume that nodule was biopsied if you know that it is non-cancerous. Most cancerous nodules are pain free, that is reason why so many cancers are diagnosed late unless it bleeds, which suddenly enlages nodule & it becomes painful.

Different doctor: If you are not satisfied with the care from your current doctor, it is entirely appropriate for you see a different doctor. If both doctors come up with the same opinion, then the issue would by you.
