Yes: If you have cancer on one side, the risk is higher that the other side will turn cancerous so all thyroid tissues should be removed, both to prevent recurrent and make it easier to monitor for recurrent.

Thyroid: Not for now. You did not have more than the one cancer but your doctor will check it every few months. Don't be worried about it as long as you are feeling fine.
