Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids can cause rectal bleeding and so can other colon issues that can be evaluated with a colonoscopy

Occult blood: Yes, the blood in the stool sample/ microscopic can be from a known source only. An additional source cannot be ruled out and that's why the colonoscopy is indicated.
