AM mushy stool: This AM loose stool, which may be urgent, is often due to an exaggerated gastrocolic reflex where as soon as food enters the stomach, marked peristaltic waves travel down the gastrointestinal tract all the way to the rectum resulting in an urgent loose BM. I have prescribed an antispasmodic gi medication like dicyclomine 1/2 hour before breakfast to quiet this reflex..l Discuss this with your MD
