A member asked:

Is it possible to have one bipartite sesamoid on the left foot and one regular sesamoid on the right foot? ive been having left foot pain, and the doctor said it could be an old fracture or sesamoiditits. i want to rule out old fracture. please help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes it is possible : Yes you can have a bipartite sesamoid on 1 foot and where the sesamoid bone is “normal” the other foot. Yes it could’ve been fractured it also could’ve developed that way normally there is no way of knowing unless you have previous x-rays. To be honest fracture or not treatment would still be the same. Fractures very rarely heal back together. Orthotic or a surgical removal
