A member asked:

Is it normal to have cramps a week before your green pills on trinessa (norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol) bcp?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pills low dose: While trinessa (norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol) is a good and safe pill for birth control it is a low dose pill and may not suppress your ovaries enough to suppress cysts (usually small) that can be painful. Could also be your uterus but that should improve the longer you are on the pill. Could consider a slightly stronger pill or one of the pills taken intentionally not to have periods. If does not get better a sonogram is next.
