Fever and vomiting: Fever, vomiting, diarrhea and runny nose are common in groups of children in fall and winter. If your child is eating and playing, keep him at home. Make sure he is drinking 3-4 cups of fluid/day - keep him hydrated. BRAT diet can help (bananas, rice, applesauce and toast.

Viral GE: Sounds like your child has pretty typical viral gastroenteritis. You do NOT want antibiotics - no need and will make diarrhea worse. If still vomiting, offer tiny amounts of water or Pedialyte every few minutes. If the vomiting stops and just diarrhea persists, offer nutrition with high protein, low roughage, low lactose diet. Give small amounts of food, but offer frequently. Then monitor!
