Hello doctors. when i reached home the steel from gate cut my hands. there was no blood coming out of it. i hope am not in danger of contracting hiv?

Not HIV: There is no risk for HIV transmission in above described scenario. Making sure your tetanus shot is up to date if any open wounds and having your hands examined if significant limitations in use is recommended.

No danger: HIV is from infected blood and sexual transmission. It is not possible to get HIV from a steel gate cut. As far as no blood coming out ,it may not have been deep enough to hit a tiny arteriole. Clean it with soap and water and forget about it.

Tetanus: I would check with your pediatrician/internist about when your last tetanus immunization was. You may need a tetanus booster. HIV infection needs exposure to bodily fluids; these are not typically found on steel fences.
