A member asked:

Me and a friend recently went out to dinner. he had an open sore that didnt look like it was bleeding. but if it was i had an open wound on my mouth. can i get hiv from sharing a dish with him if there was blood on the food or the utensils?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HIV: Seems unlikely as there are too many ifs here. To get HIV someone has to be HIV positive and then there is a transfer of the virus and this is not likely with saliva and food. If you are really worried then get HIV test.
