I had an ultrasound that showed a small mass on my liver. doctor ordered an mri in a couple weeks. he said the radiologist called it a something glioma. is this worrisome. i also have slightly swollen spleen and gallstones. also considered obese?

Hemangioma?: A Glioma is a type of brain cancer, they are not known to metastasize to the Liver. Masses in the liver can be benign (Hemangioma, Hepatic adenoma, Focal nodular hyperplasia, Cysts, Lipoma, Fibroma, Leiomyoma) or they can be Liver Cancer. Talk to your ordering Dr about exactly what he is thinking and follow up with him after the MRI when your Dr will have more information.

Agree with Dr. K: The common things in liver that rhyme with glioma are hemangioma and adenoma. Glioma is a brain lesion and does not occur in the liver. If you are obese, you will do yourself a favor by losing weight, not easy, but essential. Wish you good health!
