I had braces fitted 2 weeks ago and the steel bands are still tearing my tongue to shreds. i've been using wax but this comes off while eating..cue shred fest. it's also still painful to speak. please...how much longer until my tongue toughens up?

Tough Tongue: Unfortunately, not anytime soon. You won't get a callous on your tongue, but rather an ulceration due to the type of tissue. Please see your orthodontist and have him/her smooth down the areas that are causing the cuts. There is no need to suffer when you're trying your very best to get that picture perfect smile.
