Go to ER: You are having a reaction to something and a fever may indicate an infection so go to ER to get it sorted out before it gets worse

Allergic reactions: If you have a palatal expander that has a plastic component and is not all metal you may be having a reaction to the plastic. If your expander is fixed and was cemented in it could also be the type of cement used although this is less likely. I would contact your Dentist ASAP and have him or her evaluate the situation.
