See Peds Hematologis: A number of different causes pop into my head, including congenital things like Factor IX deficiencies (or other numbers!) and/or viral infection induced coagulopathies. You say "labs were normal", but don't say which ones were or weren't checked, so hard to say if the initial screens were adequate. This is a case where you want to see a pediatric hematologist, not just adult hematologist...
