A member asked:

I have occipital neuralgia & have recently begun eliquis. after recent intercourse (laying on my side/neck) i've developed a bad neck ache/head ache. my hematologist says surely not a bleed/rupture caused by the eliquis during intercourse. thoughts??

Depending on the amount of Eliquis being taken, sexual activity can elevated blood pressure, and may cause bleeding but the chances are minimal. If the symptoms continue, see you physician for an exam, and possible additional testing.

Your positioning likely resulted in irritation to your greater and/or lesser occipital nerves and triggered your neck and head pain. Your Eliquis has no relationship to this event.
