A member asked:

Do (serum) kappa and lambda light chains fluctuate in a healthy person, sometimes going outside of the normal range very slightly? as long as the k/l ratio is normal and all other bloodwork including check for m proteins negative, should i not worry?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No worry: Kappa and lambda lights have a limited role in diagnosis. About a third of the people your age have abnormal kappa/lambda ratio without there being any health issues. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.
