A member asked:

Colposcopy showed cin ii. last year it was cin i. all other paps were clear. dr wants me to get leep or laser. is it crucial i do this now, or can i wait to see if it clears on it's own over the next 6-12 months? worried for hurting pregnancy chances

A doctor has provided 1 answer

CIN: There are options such as "wait to see" (within the next 6-12 months) if CIN clears or perform surgical treatment such as LEEP or laser. I would discuss your concerns with your doctor. If you are smoking, quit smoking cigarettes. LEEP/laser surgery on the cervix are not known to "hurt" or decrease the ability to become pregnant. However, potential risks are cervical stenosis and preterm delivery.
