Depends : If you are worried about it & want to do strenuous activities it would be best to have it checked: you may have injured ligaments which didn’t completely heal. Doing some ankle strengthening exercises twice a day (including writing alphabet letters or circles in the air with big toe) can help, but a good physical therapist can also help. A brace can lend some extra support as well.

See a specialist: You almost certaily tore some ligaments and maybe even suffered a hairline fracture. It is probably too late to do anything about the original injury but you would probably benefit from an evaluation and physical therapy.

Scar tissue ...: Ankle injury sustained over 2 years ago probably has some Scar tissue problems now . Since symptoms seem to be lingering best see the Doctor for evaluation and possible imaging to assess current status, anticipate future Prognosis and initiate appropriate treatment

Yes, get checked. : If your ankle hasn´t healed, it´s possible some complications of a sprain are present. It´s necessary to go for a medical revision because there are several complications and different treatments. Maybe with the physical exploration, the diagnosis could be established, but you might require an ultrasound or MRI. I recommend you to visit an orthopedic doctor.

It depends: If you have some clearly persistent symptoms, such as pain or swelling, then you should go to your doctor and get it checked up.

X-ray and check up: I'm not exactly sure what sensation your experiencing ... but 2 years is a long time, and normally should have healed. I would see either an orthopedic surgeon (bone doc), or physical rehab doc. I would also have ankle x-rays taken. You might have had a fracture previously that wasn't kept in tact while trying to heal. I don't want to guess... first things first. Best of luck to you!

See specialist: If you continue to have the problems with the ankle for so long then you should definitely be evaluated by a specialist. I would recommend seeing orthopedic surgeon or a podiatrist.

Not sure what healed: Apparently, without an X-ray and an evaluation I will assume you don't have a fracture or you wouldn't be able to walk. Having said that, now you may have soft tissue damage which will require support. Best advice is to be evaluated by a sports medicine/orthopedist and get the proper treatment. Very difficult to self treat.

Chronic ankle laxity: Recurrent ankle sprains can become an issue and lead to secondary damage to the ankle joint. A thorough evaluation by an orthopaedic surgeon with x-rays and possibly an MRI will help determine whether ankle rehabilitation will suffice or if surgery to stabilize the ankle is needed.

See an expert: See an orthopedic surgeon for an exam and possible MRI of the ankle; this imaging modality does not involve X-rays; it enables imaging of the inside of one's limb.
