Hi. at times late during the evening (after 9:30/10:00) i will notice that i can spit up blood in my phlegm, not coughing or coughing blood. if i swirl water and then go to bed, thank god it typically goes away. what could possibly be causing this?

Blood from mouth: Blood from the mouth can be from a number of causes to include mouth and gum area, your tube to the stomach (esophagus) or even you lung or airway. Smoking or heavy alcohol consumption can complicate this and requires your physician to review your history with you to see what next steps are needed to determine the origin of the blood.
