Influenza: In the 1500's people believed that placing sliced, raw onions in their homes could protect them from Bubonic plague. The practice of placing onions on feet has roots in Chinese medicine due to belief that the sulfuric compounds in the onions enter the body where they kill bacteria & viruses. I don't believe that there has been any scientific study on this matter.
