Does fda warning only apply to kids under 8 years -- so this slow down of bone growth cannot happen to a teen taking this drug during puberty?fda warning:"doxycycline may cause permanent discoloration of the teeth and slow down the growth of bones."

Doxycycline/kids: The slow down of bone growth has a totally never been noted to happen in humans - only in lab sheep and a couple other animals. But because it happened in a few baby animals, FDA mandated a warning be put on for humans. Most rapid bone growth occurs in childhood, but since is growth during teen years, it theoretically could happen to teens. Since never noted in humans, hard to really say in teens.

Age 8: By age 8 the enamel of all the permanent tooth crowns, except the wisdom teeth, has fully formed and there is no danger of discoloration. nDiscuss this with your Dentist or with dental Growth & Development experts, Pedodontists or Orthodontists.
