Yes: If your dentist told you that you need root canal therapy, you probably should start the root canal therapy. Pain is not the deciding factor determining care. High blood pressure doesn't hurt, but you don't wait for a stroke to get it treated. Call for an appointment.

Infection: Dentist probably suggested root canal treatment because of infection. Change in surrounding gum tissues indicates infection is now spreading. Return to your Dentist or see Endodontist immediately.
