Possible miscarriage: Bleeding with cramping in the first trimester can indicate a miscarriage. See your OB Dr for an exam and possible untrasound to determine if the fetus's hearbeat is still present. If the fetus is still viable, your Dr may recommend bed rest to prevent further bleeding/cramping and may monitor you more closely, doing tests for progesterone and other factors.

Could be serious: Could be serious. Could be early signs of a miscarriage and should warrant a call to your obstetric provider. Could also be as a result of recent intercourse, a urinary tract infection or other non-miscarriage pregnancy problems. So call your obstetric provider for guidance.
