A member asked:

Will the removal of a whole lymph node have a long-term effect on my health/ quality of life?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually not: If it is not complete or near complete lymphadenectomy. And even then it is not that common, unless it is followed by radiation therapy to the area. A diagnostic biopsy or removal of an enlarged lymph node will have little to no effect. However, once you develop lymphedema of arm or leg, it is a difficult condition to treat.
