I take 1500mg of metformin er/day to help with pcos (not diabetes) - 500mg in the am, 1000mg in the pm. i cant remember if i took my pm dose today. is it safe to take a second dose if i did already take it, meaning 2500mg today?

Should be fine: The maximum daily dose recommended is 2500 mg, but in general err on the side of not taking an extra dose if not sure. Filling a pillbox weekly may help with avoiding such situations.
