I was diagnosed with pcos but do not have diabetes.i am also trying to conceive my cycles are every 38 days.so why am i being put on metformin?

Metformin: Pcos is characterized by Insulin resistance. It is thought that ovarian Insulin resistance may be the cause of increased androgen production and annovulation/irregular periods. Metformin is used to help improve that Insulin resistance and restore a more normal androgen level and ovulation. A person may have enough Insulin resistance to cause pcos, but not diabetes.
