Hi, i contracted double pneumonia as a child. i was hospitalized and it was a severe case. am i considered a high risk individual for covid-19? i have been working from home, but my manager is demanding that i return to the office on 4 may.

Not particularly: The incidence of pneumonia & childhood is not rare nor does the event make the lungs "weak" 2 decades later. The tissues within the lung renew themselves over time & you have basically new lungs to work with. At a listed age of 26 you appear to fall into a less vulnerable group. Wash your hands or sanitize a lot. Wear a mask when needed & follow local guidelines.

Type/severity: The type and severity of the pneumonia that you acquired as a child is important information. Sometimes pneumonia may cause chronic complications. If this did not occur, and you are otherwise healthy and not taking medication, your risk is not higher than your co-workers. Continue to use COVID 19 precautions though, including a mask and consider plastic goggles as well.
